A New Style of Music - Sonic Phunk
60Much of my youth was absorbed in the world of music. I played various instruments and engaged in various musical activities. As I moved into high school I found my calling as a percussionist. It was a natural progression for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also played with various groups and for my local church.
As I got older natural progression caused me to put down my instrument. However I still had a love for music. This love kept me tuned into music. I became in avid collector of various types of music. I collected everything from traditional jazz to urban hip-hop and house music.
Music was an integral part of my life and I loved it, (or so I thought). For me music started to become white noise. It all started to sound the same. The singers all wanted to sing the same way and in some cases they even sang the same words! I thought all was lost in the music industry but then something fresh and new came along and my interest was renewed.
Two of my longtime friends (Anthony Striggles and Lloyd Foulks) never let the music die. They continued to press forward until they could come up with something new and fresh. To my delight they succeeded. They are starting to introduce the world to a new style of music called “Sonic Phunk.”
Sonic Phunk is a result of bring two different musical genres together (Sonic – Celestial rhythmic patterns) and (Phunk – Well place bass patterns couple with a nice beat). This style creates a sound that can only be described as Funky!
After being introduced to this new style of music, I was fired up and ready to get back in the game. I am falling in love with music once again. Sonic Phunk has knocked the dust off of my musical stagnation. I am looking forward to some great music from these guys. I believe that this is the music the world has been waiting for. All I can say is that the wait is over.
Sonic Phunk will make you turn up the volume and get back on the dance floor. I hope the world is ready.
