In my quest to become a successful author and an entrepreneur, one of the first things that I learned was that my customers are my biggest asset. As long as I had customers, I would be in business for the long haul. Unfortunately life happens and I noticed that the great response I was once receiving had started to dwindle. I tried to improve my blog and my website, I lowered my prices but for some strange reason my customers seem to go lacking.
I was frustrated and really didn’t know what else to do, so I sought out an expert. I went to one of my successful business partners and they explained to me that the problem I was having was all too common. He explained that my effort to reach my customers on a personal level was subpar. I explained to him that I use all avenues in social media, email campaigns and other online marketing techniques. It was at that point when reality hit my door. My partner explained to me that I was following everyone else and that I was lost in a sea of online noise.
Long story short he started to explain to me how he was getting tons of referrals, and explaining how the retention rate of his customers was better than it had ever been. In a nut shell he explained that he started to really “CARE” about his customers in a way that others were starting to neglect due to the informal laziness of the Internet and social media.
I was curious. I wanted the edge and was waiting for the secret of all secrets. I was shocked when he explained that the secret to his success was simply sending his past, present and future clients an occasional greeting card. Bottom line, I tried it and business has truly gone through the roof. It’s amazing what a simply “Thank You” or a “Nice Meeting You” card can do for your business.
No matter what industry you’re in, let’s face it…this economy has changed. We’re in a new economy now, and the old ways of attracting clients just don’t cut it anymore. The key is to transform your business and turn the bad news into good news for you.
One of the most important keys to the equation is to adapt. People are looking but all they are finding is noise. Those who are willing to adapt to the new way of doing business will be the successful ones.
The second is to have a system that works. Having a great attraction system is essential. It can help build clientele and help maintain the clients you currently have.
Last but not least is that you have to take action. In order to be at the top of your niche’ market you have strike while the iron is hot.
