"Imported From Detroit" - The Motor City bruised but not broken.
62The Michigan economy has suffered a great deal as the nation is wading through one of the worst economic downturns since The Great Depression. Michigan was once a flourishing place that became home to many. The State of Michigan not only offered quality living it also offered great natural resources. The manufacturing community created a comfortable lifestyle for many families and offered opportunity to future generations. Today the face of Michigan has changed. Whether it is for the better, only time will tell. As a Christian man I have faith that the economy will turn around and Michigan will once again take its place as an industry leader. However as a mortal man, I know that a change has to come.
In my eyes I see Michigan is quickly becoming a leader in technology. No longer will manufacturing rule the Motor City. New ideas are being birthed in the State on a daily basis and various opportunities have found their way into the State. Many people have given up and others have taken matters into their own hands creating a new wave of opportunities. Are you ready for the next wave?
What is the next wave? The next wave to hit Michigan will ride on the shoulders of young entrepreneurs. These young men and women are flourishing at an astounding rate. Some have found great brick and mortar businesses and others are embracing the opportunities of a home business via the Internet. What I really like about these individual's is that they refuse to let economic conditions rule their lives. This one principle alone is more than enough to garner a massive success rate. Entrepreneurs refuse to let roadblocks get in their way. They only see the end of the road. They stay in their lane and roll on. When they do hit a bump in the road they get upset and they get frustrated but they keep moving forward.
Opportunities are what you make of them; As a Michigan resident, I know several people who have spent years in the manufacturing arena. In previous years this has proven to be a great experience. It has also allowed those same individuals to experience a very comfortable lifestyle. In the back of my mind I knew that many of them would eventually have to do more if they wanted to experience an independent worry free lifestyle. This conclusion was conjured up based on the fact that a large percentage of factory workers have only high school education or the equivalent. Statistics have proven that this in and of itself is simply not enough to gain you a high paying position in the manufacturing industry. For many their only choice to greater wealth would have to come from some type of entrepreneurial adventure. Not to imply that a high school education or the equivalent is a set back but simply more of a limitation especially in the manufacturing world. For those who have made the decision to abandon manufacturing, this leap of faith has created more opportunities than they have ever imagined. Many of them have flourishing home businesses and they are no longer worried about the Michigan economy.
A person has to be willing to make the necessary changes if they want to have success and build their own wealth. You just have to know what you want and go for it. One of the easiest ways to build wealth is to consider on line marketing. If you have a good product and if you are a good copywriter than online marketing could be a great opportunity for you. Then again maybe you are the type of person who only believes in brick and mortar businesses. No matter what it may be you just have to get out there. In a few short years you will look back and find Michigan has survived the downturn and has once again become a great place to live, work and raise families. Never let what you see control what you want. The great people of Michigan have learned to look past the negative faults that continue to plague Michigan finding hope and solutions. If they can do it so can you.

Mr. Payne,
I am pleased to see you on HubPages. I left my home state of Michigan 18 years ago for purely economic reasons--to seek my fame and fortune. I found it twice and lost it twice. Now, I am planning to move back but this time way out in the country where I can live humbly in a little cottage at very little cost. There, I can ruminate and write and read quietly.
I have followed events in Michigan closely since I left. I still have a large family there including 3 children (in St. Joseph) and dozens of friends. I hope and pray that Detroit comes back somehow. I have spent a fair amount of time in that city.
Your article is beautifully written and expresses a message of hope for a land you obviously love. God Bless You and Michigan.

As Michigan is my home of birth and raising, I remain optimistic that it will survive the auto industry trauma as it has others difficulties in the past. As crime, housing and youth despair is a major concern for many residents, I trust these issues are priority considerations for officials.
