Twitter Me This (Who to Friend, Who to Follow)

By

Twitter is suppose to be a place where one can socialize and network with various people all over the world. Some people prefer to use Twitter as a place to advertise their business, while others just want to meet other people with like minds. When you can only use 140 characters to express yourself you have to be careful as to how you communicate. I use Twitter for what it was intended to be and that is a micro blogging tool. Twitter for me is simply my world expressed in 140 characters. I also like to gain valuable information from those who have the same interest as me and who are willing to share content and resources. This is what makes Twitter a great networking tool.

Recently I have noticed that my follow/following count was erratically changing on a daily basis. I would meet new people who would request that I follow them and in return I wanted them to follow me back. This may seem like a simple task but to my surprise all these individuals where doing was increasing their follower count. This gives the appearance to other unsuspecting prospects that these individuals where popular and to busy to follow others back. Well enough is enough.

Twitter has become the new word of the day. Software developers are constantly creating more and more apps for Twitter. There are tons of books and e-books available telling you how one can get more followers and stand out above the rest. If you still have that high school mentality that makes you want to be the most popular person in the room I would suggest you pick up one of these great book. However if you just want to enjoy networking with people who want to network with you, than you should consider following those who want to follow you.

During my time of confusion to this matter I discovered a really clever program called “Friend or Follow” http://friendorfollow.com this program allows you to see whom you are following and who follows you back. At the time of this writing I discovered that I was wasting valuable 140-character speech on 393 who never see what I write. This ends today if you don’t need my conversation I don’t need you in my queue.

If you can read this then that means you are following me on Twitter and life is good. I refuse to waste my precious typing skills on someone who will never see what I am typing. I just want to be friends. I am not trying to win a popularity contest. Granted there are a few individuals that offer some great content and never follow anyone, these people I can live with but for the rest…Good Bye.
